Last year, I wrote again about the challenges that Black people face in Austin, how a stubborn liberal commitment to our hypervisible invisibility keeps the city from truly reckoning with it’s ultra-whiteness. But Austin is not alone in this — I felt the same feeling in San Francisco, in Seattle. Liberal progressive hubs are not places of comfort or ease for Black women.
